When the heat goes out

The furnace stops.
The cold doesn't.

When the power goes out in winter, the heat goes with it. Within hours the house drops into the 40s, and every room feels like the porch. Blankets slow it down, but cold air keeps finding the gaps. A Wolfden thermal bag holds in the warmth your body still makes, so you can wait it out at home.

The heat you already have

Your body makes heat. A cold house steals it.

Drafts carry your warmth away faster than blankets can hold it. This bag closes you in and turns your own heat back toward you, so the warmth you make stays with you.

Keep your blankets. Make them work harder.

Five blankets and still shivering, because cold air slips in at every edge and carries your heat away. Climb into the sealed bag first, then pile your blankets on top. The bag stops the drafts, the reflective lining sends your body heat back to you, and the blankets hold it all in.

The generator runs dry. This never needs to.

Propane sells out before the storm hits. The generator needs gas. The space heater needs power you don't have. There's nothing to fill, plug in or light. It works the same on day one and day five, with no flame and no fumes, so there's nothing to vent and nothing to watch all night.

Mom's in her eighties. The kids get chilled in minutes. You can tough it out, but you're not the one you worry about. Unfold it, step in, pull it up. Stuck on a closed road? Save the gas.

The highway's shut, the plows are hours away, and every minute the engine runs burns gas you might need later. Pull the bag from the glove box and climb in right where you sit. It holds your heat in, so you can run the engine in short bursts instead of all night.

Questions, answered straight

Will it really keep me warm when the power's out?

Yes. It doesn't make heat, it holds in the heat your body already makes. The sealed bag stops drafts and the reflective lining turns your warmth back toward you. With your blankets on top, the difference is easy to feel.

What kind of emergencies is it built for?

Anything that takes the heat away: winter storms, ice storms, grid failures, outages after a hurricane, or a night stuck in the car. Keep one at home for each person, one in every car and one in the go-bag.

I already have blankets. Why do I need this?

Keep them. They work better with it. Blankets leave gaps where cold air slips in. Climb into the bag first and lay your blankets on top: the bag seals in your warmth, the blankets hold it.

Isn't this just a foil space blanket?

No. A space blanket is a flat sheet you hold around you, and it slides off and lets wind in. This is a closed bag you climb into, so the warm air stays around your whole body.

I have a generator or a space heater. Do I still need it?

Keep them too. Fuel runs out, propane sells out before storms, and heaters need power. This needs nothing, so it's the backup that still works when the others stop.

Will it get damp inside?

A little, after hours of use. It doesn't breathe, which is part of why it holds heat so well. Keep your head outside the bag, put blankets on top instead of inside, and open the top now and then to air it out.

Is it safe for kids and older adults?

Yes, used the right way. Always keep the head and face outside the bag. Children should use it with an adult nearby. It's simple to use: unfold it, step in, pull it up.

Can I use it more than once?

Yes, with care. It's thin, light film, so keep it away from sharp edges. To repack, fold it lengthwise into a narrow strip, then roll it tight and slide it back into the sack.

Is it waterproof?

It's windproof and sheds rain, snow and splashes. It's not made to be submerged, so don't count on it in standing water.

When will it ship, and what if I'm not happy?

Orders ship in 1–3 business days and arrive in 7–10 business days with tracking. You're covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee. Tip: open it once when it arrives and try it on, so you know it's ready.

One for every bed.
One for every car.

You're probably the one in your family who thinks about these things. Put the warmth away now, so it's there the night the heat goes out.

Now this is more like it!

These three come in completely flush plastic bags. They are extremely poor that way. So glad that it is sealed around the edges like a bag, and I would highly recommend you not let children sleep in these. Overall, they are fantastic! Really a great purchase.

Great to have in a pinch!

Great to have in a pinch! They are small and can easily fit in your main pack as a backup for emergencies for in a bugout bag. They aren't heavy or super insulated but I mean its for emergencies and better than nothing! I can't find anything to complain about as long as you know it won't replace your regular sleeping back but would keep your warm and dry if you had nothing else.

Good to have for emergencies

Like most people, I wanted to have these for emergency use. I've been looking around at options for these, and decided on the sleeping bag style vs the blanket. After watching some reviews, people who actually tested them noticed heat loss with blankets. So to me the best option for my needs is a sleeping bag style.Though I have not had a reason to use them, I did inspect them and they seem very durable. I primarily got these to keep in my emergency road kit just in case we get stranded somewhere. I know these aren't going to be as warm and cozy as a sleeping bag, but the purpose is survival at that point. I'm not discrediting the blanket style, but I want to ensure I'm going to be retaining as much heat as possible. I also haven't rolled them out and put them in the little stuff sacks yet, since folded up they aren't taking up as much room.Hope to never have to use them, but if I do, I'll come back and update this review. Current price of $19.99 seems like a fair enough deal.

Nice option for emergency cover

My only concern is that the material stretched with me barely using the fingers of one hand to test it. That may be a positive if it means this will stretch before it breaks. But I am more inclined to worry that it means that it actually is weaker material and I will have to be more gentle with it.I have tried out many different variations of emergency mylar blankets. I have used them for all sorts of things. They are a GREAT item to have around. Combine mylar blankets with duct tape and you can handle just about anything. What you get with these, is mylar blankets that have already been put together in a sleeping bag form. So that saves you labor and tape making them yourself. Plus they come with a little drawstring bag for each one.Using these by themselves for any length of time will mean condensation issues. They are best used when combined with other layers. But in an emergency it is absolutely better than nothing. I think everyone should have one of these in their vehicle or suitcase. They are more than just a sleeping bag. They can be used for anything a tarp can be used for. They can protect you from the sun or the rain. Cover an important bag. Rescue a puppy. Someone fell in the lake, they will keep your car seats dry. These are more specialized because they already are shaped into the sleeping bag. And they have the orange side as well as the silver side. With the addition of the drawstring bag I think that makes these still a good deal for the convenience. At around $20 for the three of them these are at the higher end of cost that I would want to spend. But I think they are still worth it.

Speedy Delivery and Good product description

We are using this product for our work emergency kit. It was described perfectly, and though we hope we will never use them, feel confident it's what we need just in case.

A great addition

I have given time and thought to equipping my truck with those items my family and I would need in an emergency situation. This could include a hasty evacuation from our home due to severe weather or other causes. Other items have been included to make an unforeseen travel delay more comfortable. These bivy bags are a great compact addition to what I already have stored in the truck. If needed, their value would be priceless.

In car for emergencies

I keep these in our winter car box. We don't do a lot of mountain driving in the winter, or when the weather is bad, but having these on hand is nice. I honestly hope we never have to use them!

Great Packaging & Size

Great packaging that can stand alone or be part of a bug out bag. I like that this one is a realistic size compared to the "blankets" I've purchased years ago that are really just large enough for a toddler. These are actually large enough for real humans and they are a sleeping bag style instead of a flat blanket. The orange bag it came in is durable like flat. For a real bug out option, this will be most effective.

Go Bag. Let's Go!

This is a nice addition for an emergency go bag. Using the little reflective blankets can work but having something that can wrap around you and have you sealed up should improve the warmth held in. Keeping one in the car in the event of getting stranded on a cold, snowy day is easy because it is small, has it's own carrying bag and is reusable.

Essential emergency bag

The mylar reflective interior retains 90 percent of body warmth. This American owned company has made an easy to carry/store essential for survival. The sealed sides keep out the elements. It is puncture and tear resistant. It comes in a 3 pack which we keep in our vehicles for emergencies. At this price point, an essential survival item.

4-ounce survival bags come with nylon drawstring pouch for ease of use and storage.

Having one of these emergency sleeping bags on hand could be a life saver. The bag weighs just 4 ounces and packaged or rerolled, tucked into its own nylon drawstring pouch it's very easy to store or pack along with gear for any outing with exposure to the elements. The bag is large 3 ft. x 7 ft., a bright reflective orange on the outside and silver on the inside. The materials are non-toxic, waterproof and windproof, capable of retaining up to 90% of body heat.Multiple possible uses are noted on the package, such as shelter, ground cover, insulation, emergency signal, shade, staying dry, outdoors survival, preventing hypothermia or shock. I did completely unpack one of the bags for a close look, although didn't crawl inside or otherwise test outdoors. Following the instructions for refolding it easily fits inside the carry pouch and now have it in my backpack ready for use should the need arise.

Might save your life one day

These are exactly as described: blankets in case of an emergency. I keep them in my bug-out bag in my car and my home, just in case. They have reflective surfaces and are easy to both unroll and roll up again to put away. I'm hoping I never have to use them, but if caught in an emergency, i'm grateful to know they are there. They are also a good size and could be used as a makeshift tent for one person. It can also be used as a sleeping bag. They are lightweight and easy to find. Highly recommend!

Great update to an old standard mylar blankets

I do a lot of mostly day hikes in some rough terrain. I always carry a standard mylar blanket in my backpack because one never knows when an emergency will occur. These survival sleeping bags (3) grabbed my attention when I saw them. One of these will be a great substitution for my hiking gear. Having a windproof, waterproof, thermal sleeping bag is much better than a simple blanket. The bright orange color is also a great feature, making it easier to spot in an emergency. I’m not sure how well these will wear but the first use is the most important. They come with an orange-colored satchel, with directions for refolding and repacking each sleeping bag. While we are not preppers, it is prudent to have some survival gear available. For the price, I am getting a few more.

Always Prepared

Growing up my dad always told me to expect the unexpected. You just never know what could happen.I always carry a bag in my car with extra socks, shirt, hoodie, hiking boots and of course the first aid case. I also have an extra blanket thrown in .. just in case. When I saw these I knew I had to add this to my collection. These are perfect emergency sleeping bags and I'm assuming will work perfectly. Hopefully I won't have to test them out. I like that they have the silver inside lining that helps keep body heat inside.I would definitely recommend these to those who prepare for the "just in cases."

I hope I never need one, but glad to have it in case

This 3-pack of Emergency Sleeping Bags by Mart Cobra arrived quickly and perfectly packed in a vacuum sealed bag, keeping them very compressed. I am hesitate to open the pack unless there is an emergency, as these are perfectly preserved against moisture in the present state. So I can't honestly tell you how it feels (and it's not a sleeping bag designed for comfort) since it's designed to prevent hypothermia in an emergency situation. I hope I never need to find out how good these are, but I will save them just in case of an actually emergency. Each bag is Emergency Orange for easy detection and comes with a little carrying bag, in lovely emergency orange as well. Great to keep on camping trips or in a survival 'go box' as well.

Great Reusable Emergency Blankets With Storage Case

So impressed with these reusable emergency bags. They are actually quite sizable and would fit an actual American sized adult, which is great. They come individually packaged so that you can toss one in the car, your emergency kit or go bag or hiking backpack etc. Once opened they each come with a sturdy drawstring storage bag so you can roll them back up and stow them for a future use. The instructions for how to roll them up and get them back into the small bag are included so that is a plus. I did not have an issue re-rolling them up and getting them back into the bag. The material the bags are made of is a thick Mylar type material with bright orange on the outside and silver heat reflective on the inside. I stuck my arm inside and held it there and it did indeed start to get warm, as if I had put on a light sweater. These bags would be great in rain, wind or over your existing sleeping bag or clothing to add winds block or a layer to reflect warmth. For the price, a great deal for these top quality emergency sleeping bags.

Three useful, emergency sleeping bags.

This product is a three-pack of very tightly packed miniature sleeping bags made of nearly impermeable mylar. If you can wrap yourself in this bag, it will trap your body heat very effectively and will keep you warm even in extreme conditions. It is of course not meant for deliberate use overnight when camping, this is just something that would be useful in an emergency for someone who is trapped out in the elements without shelter. Each of these small packages is about the size and shape of one of those hand warmers that are popular in winter. They can be placed in a pocket, but they can also be thrown in a book bag or car glove compartment and forgotten about until needed. They are not made for comfort or durability, they are made to keep someone sheltered from extreme cold for as short of a period as possible. I highly recommend this product to anyone who lives in a cold climate or intends to visit one. This could literally be a lifesaver and it is something that fits in the palm of your hand.

Emergency Sleeping Bag

It looks bigger in the picture, very light and I got it for putting over my sleeping bag to help keep me dry and also if I need more protection from the cold.
